Braga UEFA Champions League Group Position: 3rd Champions League Form: LLWW
Braga are sitting in 3rd in group H and will be looking for an upset against Arsenal after their 6-0 drubbing at The Emirates. Braga are 10th in La Liga Sagres and are not enjoying a great start to their league campaign after the success achieved last year. Their last Champions league outing saw them defeat Partizan 1-0 away from home.
However Arsenal know that a victory here will see them qualify for the knockout stage indefinitely so Arsenal are likely to field a strong line up featuring Cesc Fabregas who scored twice against Braga in their last meeting.
Arsenal UEFA Champions League Group Position: 1st Champions League Form: WWWL
Arsenal’s last Champions League outing was a distinctly poor affair, with the only moments of quality coming in the first 30 minutes in their 2-1 loss to Shakhtar. Arsenal’s league form however has been on the whole promising, and while Everton did take them to the wire last weekend at Goodison Park after Tim Cahill’s late strike gave them hope they have looked dominant. The return of Robin Van Persie to fitness has to be a bonus for Arsene Wenger’s men and with their Shakhtar defeat fresh in mind Wenger surely will go for a stronger line up then who started that game. Meaning a start for Robin Van Persie over Nikolas Bendnter and Maraune Chamakh looks likely.
Long term absentee Thomas Vermhaelen is still on the sidelines along with Manuel Almunia and Aaron Ramsey. Lukasz Fabianski’s form since his replacing Manuel Almunia has been outstanding and bar the defeat to Tottenham this weekend his displays between the sticks have been far superior to the ‘Flappy Handski’ displays of last year. So Arsenal to win and keep a clean sheet being priced at 21/10 is a good shout on BoyleSports.
Samir Nasri again scored this weekend and has been on fine form lately and is priced at 3/1 on Coral to score at anytime also. A high scoring match is the most likely outcome after the 6-0 defeat last time, the odds for another 6-0 win for Arsenal are 325/1 on Paddypower so arewell worth a look in, but a more defensive Braga side at home may be harder to break down so a 3-0 Arsenal win could be more likely with odds of 16/1 on ToteSport.
